We warmly welcome Cédric Dind-Lavoie (CA) to the lineup, presented by mundial montreal

The showcase conference Nordic Folk Alliance, which in 2023 and 2024 takes place in Roskilde, Denmark, will reveal their full line up on Tuesday 7 March. This offers a journey in the Nordic roots genre with 16 names specially selected from Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden and even one from Canada.

Our dear colleagues from Mundial Montreal, have decided to send the music archaeologist from Canada - Cédric Dind-Lavoie to join Nordic Folk Festival 2023! This band have been digging down in the heritage of field recordings where they are adding musicologists from the past 100 years to their duo when they accompany them live with recordings going in the middle of their performance making them the star of the hour.

The roots genre is many things, but can generally be described as traditional music styles from around the world, performed in their pure form or fused with other styles. This also means that the genre field appears in the smallest niches, but also on the biggest stages worldwide. Therefore, the potential for young musicians within this genre is inexhaustible. In the Nordics, we know it from our Nordic folk music, which is our tradition, which has seen a huge flourishing in recent years. Roskilde is a good example of where small festivals have started and musical collaborations have arisen across cultural life and generations. We are therefore looking forward to the Nordic Folk Alliance being part of this development in 2023 and 2024. The conference takes place the 18th-20th April in 2023 and you can find more information and your tickets on the links below.

“This year is also special since we’ve been able to open the two days of showcases to the public. We look forward to gathering people locally and internationally to the Nordic Folk Alliance in
Roskilde, where you can really get a taste of the incredibly broad roots genre. Therefore, I am also sure that everyone, regardless of taste, will leave with several strong musical experiences.
